BUILDWRIGHT HOMES
July 8, 2004

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Gary and Ilene Rhodes started BuildWright Homes almost 10 years ago, and they built it from the ground up, literally. They thought homebuyers should be more involved in the building process and knew that their involvement could save time and money.

Prior to starting BuildWright Homes, Gary worked at a homebuilding company based in Minnesota. He quickly became the company's number one salesman. However, Gary disliked how the company didn't give any authority to local management, so he decided to leave and start his own business. Gary tells me he took the best parts of that company and combined them with his own ideas about the building process to form BuildWright Homes.

When customers come to BuildWright Homes, Gary and Ilene help them select a financing plan, house plan and lot. BuildWright Homes has more than 3,000 house plans from which customers can choose. The company also works with independent architects and homebuyers to develop new plans. While financing is being secured, Gary and Ilene help customers gather construction bids from local sub-contractors. BuildWright Homes is on a 130-day construction schedule, and the company oversees the whole building process. Gary tells me the company pays for the building materials and sub-contractors before he pays BuildWright Homes.

Being involved in the bidding and building process can save people money. The average customer saves between $30,000 and $90,000 when they build with BuildWright Homes because the company has built strong relationships with sub-contractors. Gary pays the sub-contractors within two days of receiving the invoice, and they in turn give his customers excellent prices. Gary and Ilene say their company is a hybrid and based on an owner-builder construction model.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.

A special thanks to all those that helped make this happen.

Thank you for your support.
